Hi, I’m Thea Kable.

I’m a PhD candidate, designer, and illustrator working on the unceded lands of the Gadigal of the Eora Nation. I’ve designed publications including a zine about Biosphere 2, an anthology of kids’ stories, and a book about hopeful futures. My illustrations have appeared alongside pirate-y prose, childrens’ stories (1, 2, 3 & 4), and health articles. I’ve also made a variety of comics and branding.

print, research, workshop

merit and finalist in the AGDA 2020 student print awards

Lessons from a Better Place was the 115-page publication of research findings from my Honour’s research workshop titled Letters From a Better Place. It includes author-developed design fictions based on the participants’ workshop responses. Staged as B. Racter’s journals during her exploration of a variety of Closed Intentional Communities, the publication includes an interview between editor and author, written fiction, object fictions, and materials from the workshop. I wrote, designed, and produced the final book. A full PDF of the publication, and a full PDF of my Honour’s thesis, is available on request.
