Hi, I’m Dr Thea Kable. I’m an educator, designer, and illustrator working on the unceded lands of the Gadigal of the Eora Nation. I’ve designed publications including a zine about Biosphere 2, an anthology of kids’ stories, and a book about hopeful futures. My illustrations have appeared alongside pirate-y prose, childrens’ stories (1, 2, 3 & 4), and health articles. I’ve also made a variety of comics and branding.

My doctoral research at University of Technology, Sydney examined sustainable practice within the Australian graphic design industry through Participatory Design workshops. I previously completed a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation at the University of Technology, Sydney. 

My research work focuses on design workshops for designers, and playful engagements with serious topics. I also enjoy editorial illustration and telling sometimes real stories about little utopias and how they fail.
