Hi, I’m Thea Kable. I’m a designer and PhD candidate working on the unceded lands of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation. I’ve designed publications including a zine about Biosphere 2, an anthology of kids’ stories, and a book about hopeful futures. My illustrations have appeared alongside pirate-y prose, childrens’ stories, and health articles. I’ve also made comics about space settlement and the biosphere.
Currently, most of my time is devoted to my PhD at the University of Technology, Sydney. My doctoral research examines sustainable practice within the Australian graphic design industry through Participatory Design workshops. I previously completed a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation at the University of Technology, Sydney.
My research work focuses on design workshops for designers and playful engagements with serious topics. I also enjoy editorial illustration and telling sometimes real stories about little utopias.
