Hi, I’m Thea Kable.

I’m a PhD candidate, designer, and illustrator working on the unceded lands of the Gadigal of the Eora Nation. I’ve designed publications including a zine about Biosphere 2, an anthology of kids’ stories, and a book about hopeful futures. My illustrations have appeared alongside pirate-y prose, childrens’ stories, and health articles. I’ve also made comics about space settlement and the biosphere. Want to see more?

Thanks for your interest in the Better Worlds Workshops (UTS HREC ETH23-8898). These workshops will be run by Thea Kable, a PhD candidate at the University of Technology, Sydney. The workshops will either be run in person at the Ultimo campus at UTS or online via Zoom, depending on participant availability.

There will be three workshops, conducted over six weeks. Each workshop will have a small catered meal. You will also be asked to complete three surveys. The total time commitment from participants will be around 10 hours. When the workshops have been completed, you will be credited for your contributions to the work. This research aims to test how participatory design could help emerging graphic designers develop strategies for implementing ecological sustainability into their design practice. If you wish to withdraw from the research process at any time once it has started, just let Thea Kable (theadora.kable@uts.edu.au) or Zoë Sadokierski (zoe.sadokierski@uts.edu.au) know.

An information sheet is available here: https://files.cargocollective.com/c1138142/BWWsinformationsheet-1.pdf

If you'd like to take part, please email Thea (theadora.kable@uts.edu.au) with the information below and the subject line "BWW2024 EOI". Thea will then send you the itinerary and consent form. Participant intake is currently OPEN.
